Description
Protects the grips from damage and prevents the throttle grip from sticking when dropped. The plug's outer diameter is F33 mm, which matches the diameter of the ODI grips, so that the rubber on the grips will not tear when dropped on the ground.
The plug is made of very strong, impact-resistant aluminum and can be securely installed inside the handlebar, withstands impacts without breaking. It has a secure and easy fastening into the handlebar bore.
Suitable for handlebars of enduro and trial motorbikes. The set includes threaded insert bush for different handlebar inner diameters from 13.85 to 14.80mm. Sealant for installation is included.
How to install
Installing pinky finger protection and plugs:
1. It is necessary to match the diameter of the bore of your handlebar to the diameter of the threaded insert bush. The threaded insert bushes without markings are for handlebars mounted on KTMs of recent years. One dot on the end is for Husqvarna handlebars, two dots are for Sherco handlebars. If you are unsure about your handlebar type, select the threaded insert bush that fits the handlebar diameter most tightly. If your handlebar is not standard and the threaded insert bush has a gap of more than 0.2mm in radius, please contact us.
2. Assemble the pinky protection /plugs with the selected threaded insert bush. Take the screw, insert it into the plug/protection from the front, and screw the threaded insert bush onto the screw until it stops in the plug/protection. To screw the threaded insert bush, screw it on from the end with the chamfer. Do not attempt to screw it on from the other end.
Please note that the pinky protection has a tight fit on the threaded insert bush, use a hex wrench and make sure the threaded insert bush is fully positioned in the protection.
3. Slide the grips slightly to the center of the handlebar to avoid interference with the installation and prevent them from getting dirty with sealant.
4. Clean and degrease all surfaces thoroughly, paying special attention to the inside of the handlebar. This will affect how securely the plugs and protection are installed.
5. Install one side first, then the other. Apply an even layer of sealant to the entire surface of one threaded insert bush with the plug/protection already assembled.
6. Apply sealant to the inside of the handlebar end in a circular motion. It is not necessary to apply it to the entire depth of the threaded insert bush. The important thing is to apply a sufficient amount to the inside edge of the handlebar end. Calculate the amount of sealant needed as follows: half a bottle on one side, half on the other.
7. Install the plug/protection. Carefully and slowly insert the threaded insert bush into the handlebar, turning it in different directions to prevent the sealant from rubbing against the edge of the handlebar end. After installing it all the way in, rotate the plug/protection a few times in either direction to spread the sealant more evenly.
8. Note: This paragraph is for pinky finger protection only. The protection's installation angle is user-selectable. We recommend a downward slope of around 15 degrees and it MUST BE secured with insulating tape or painter's tape prior to initial curing of the sealant.
9. Initial cure in 25-35 minutes at room temperature. Full cure in 24 hours.
10. After initial curing, unscrew the screws, apply thread locker and screw them back in.
